In anticipation of the impending speed control issues, what is the BEST radar detector I can buy?

I'm sure you will get varying opinions. I have had escort radar detectors in my cars for years and they work flawlessly. I presently have an Escort 8500 x50 in my car and just ordered one yesterday for my Streetfighter along as well as the H.A.R.D.

Escort 8500 x50 has saved me more times than I can count. I plan on mounting it on my bike soon.

It has a headphone out too so you can Y it in to your headphones if you listen to music or something.

I've gone through a half dozen in the past five years and settled on a Bel 655 for my car (anything 655 or better should do) and a Adaptiv for my new bike. I didn't have luck with the Escort 8500 over about five months it warned me late consistently and chattered neadlessly. At least with the chatter on the Bel I also got warning for the actual traps and near misses. I'm not completely sold on the Adaptiv but I do like it so far. So Beltronics and Adaptiv get my votes for now. -Pk

what about the new detector that is made for bikes? I can't remember the name. Has anyone tried that?

That's the one I'm using now and I'm happy with it. It could use some work but I'm looking forward to the 2nd generation. -Pk
