My 1098 is about 18 months old and it appears that the battery is shot. Shows 11.x charge on the display and has a tough time starting.

Time for a new battery already? I just put the tender on.

Have you always used a tender my fellow Bueller? If not the life of the battery is shortened. 18 months seems alfully short to me.

Lots of electonics going on behind the scenes as w/ my 1198. Was the battery left untended or bike not ridden for more than two weeks? After 2 wks, the battery is going to start going downhill. I use one of the very best on the market:

VDC Electronics 12 volt-1.0 amp Battery MinderPLUS

This gem will de-sulphate the batter if detected, and comes w/ exact end that plugs right into your bike (presume you have the same factory installed end as the 1198 does. Can do more than one bike.

I haven't used the tender at all until today. That said, I rarely let the bike sit for more than a week without a ride. Maybe it went more than two weeks once or twice.

I didn't think that would do in the battery though.
