I have a 3 week old '09 848 thats having some mechanical issues...

-Engine dies/turns off while idling in neutral or in gear...(maybe 8 times in 3 weeks)
-Clutch does not pop into gear sometimes(maybe 10 times in 2 weeks)

Anybody have similiar issues? The bike is at the shop right now, but any ideas what the issue is or was?

Very common issues, use the search function and type in 848 issue and you'll come up with shit-loads of threads.

I've got 12k on my 848 and it seems to have less and less issues as it ages and after the first service, which I did, so there wasn't any mysterious computer updates.

Mine use to do the same thing for the first 250 miles. More than likely its just your engine braking in. During your 600 mile service I would recommend you go down to a 14t front sprocket. It helps with the take off. Then you don't have to feather it so much. Just my opinion
