I am a BRAND NEW rider. I mean brand new as in dont have a bike nor Have I ever riden. I am taking the class in a week or two. I found a 2001 620 Dark for 3K. It has a dent on the left side of the tank from a drop and thats it. It also has 54oo miles on it. I am wondering if this is a good deal. The owner says it needs a tune up aswell. I am very mechanical with cars but have never worked on a bike. My question is would it be dumb to buy this now or should I wait. it seems like the best deal I have found so far.

Any advise would be nice thanks
Mike

being that it is an '01...and due to the milage.....the inevitability of the coming service to be due at 6000 miles probably somewhat scared him...and being that the bike is over 2 years old...the belts are more than likely overdue for changing due to them having a service interval of 2 years or 12,000 miles...so the coming service would somewhat equate to basically a 12K service.....otherwise...the pricing is not far off at all but is not a super deal as it were....also...do you have pictures of the damage and the side where the damage is?...because more than likely..the dent in the tank is the infamous handlebar dent from having the bike gone down at some point....there may be something of note that you may not see due to infamiliarity that we may be able to identify for ya!

Where are you? A friend of mine near Pittsburgh is selling an '02 Monster SIE (750cc) with 2100 miles for not much more than that (I think he wants $4500). This is a sweet bike that has been well maintained.

If I could see it in person, it would be tempting, as a tank off of eBay is easily had (even in colors) and the valve check/adjustment and belt change is fairly easy to do. The last adjustment and belt change on my ST2 (and oil change) only cost me $127. The key is whether it has more damage than just the tank.
