I know how to get the tank off, but can someone give me a quick rundown on proper fuel-line removal? 1st I'll syphon the fuel, then remove the quick-couplings from the back underside of the tank. Is that basically it? Exactly how do the quick-couplings/connectors work?... squeeze and pull? What about those two hoses that come out of the front of the tank? What are they for? I have the schematics and parts lists here in front of me but they are not labeled on the fuel tank diagrams.

This is my first tank removal so any other tips are greatly appreciated. I did a search for tank removal but didn't find what I was looking for. Thanks.

Thanks man. I'm glad to know I don't have to drain the tank. I just need to get inside the throttle body/air box. When I installed my PCIII tonight, the female plug (that the PCIII male harness connects to) and surrounding gasket of the factory wiring harness on the bottom right side of the throttle body/air box pulled through when disconnecting it. I'm assuming I can get to it when I take the top cover off the box.

HAAAA!!!! I did the same stupid thing with mine. What a PITA. Fortunately, mine was sitting there and I could get a pair of needle nose pliers on it. Spray with WD-40, then take your pliers and a small screwdriver and work it back into position. PITA, but I'm sure it took me less time than a tank removal and luckily I didn't mess anything up. Did you figure out the two fuel lines just snap on? Just squeeze the black connector thing and pull the lines off. The only fuel that leaks is out of the lines, not out of the tank.

I had asked the question before but never got an answer...what is the benefit of Q/D's??? Heck, I consider that factory connection a Q/D.
Well, after removing the tank and attempting to remove the throttle body cover, I got to the last screw in the front of the box near the triple, and I tried a thousand ways but was unable to get that last screw out. The last thing I tried was a flexible carb tool with a phillips head attachment. I still couldn't get it due to the bad angle. So after messing with that one screw forever, I gave up on trying to get to it from inside and tried your method with the pliers, screwdriver, and WD-40. It worked. Thanks for your help.

BTW, what's the best method for removing that last screw I'm refering to? Anybody?
