How do I get the velocity stacks off? I found some old threads and photos that help, but they all say to just rotate the stacks and lift off. Mine don't want to move. Looking at the parts list I can see there is a spring clip on each throttle body that must engage something on the velocity stack. What's the trick to disengaging that? Do I need to unclip it in some manner or just twist on the velocity stack harder? Don't want to break anything!

They twist counter clockwise 1/6th of a turn. What I usually do is grab the lip of the trumpet itself and give it a good ol' twist.

The stacks on my 916 were stuck, so I used an oil filter wrench to get more leverage. I simply put the strap of the wrench around the largest diameter on the velocity stack and rotated it off. The little spring clip engages when the stacks are tightened all the way. What is holding the stacks from rotating are the o-rings that seal them. They probably got dryed out and making it difficult to turn the stacks. Make sure you grease them up when reassembling them.

Disconnect the injectors and lines first, as you may kink the fuel lines on the tower injectors.
