Hey guys I hope someone can help, trying repair a 996s 2001, I’m hunting for some stock barrels and pistons but they are hard to find, are the st4 barrels the same ? And where could I find some new stock sized pistons and rings ? Or are st4 pistons the same also ?
cheers

Be aware st4 is NOT the same stud pattern so it is not going to fit. I just spent a month looking for a good 996 cylinder to repair a bike in the shop with "B" pistons. note there are both "A" and "B" sizes so try and match them if you plan is not to re-plate. If you are willing to re-plate a set get some used pistons and send them off with the old cylinders. If it were not for covid delays that's the best plan.

I may have a set of 996 "B" pistons but I am a long way off from you so you would be much better off checking with Belter to find some closer to home.

No, ST4 and ST4S are not the same

ST4=916cc
ST4S=996cc

this is pointed out because your thread headline says 996s vs 996 ST4
