Searched but couldn't come up with anything direct.

What fork seal driver size do I need for 996 forks? is it 39mm or 43mm?

Also, any other recommendations? diy tools?

I used a piece of PVC pipe, a little block of wood, and a mallet. I don't know the diameter. Just cut the PVC lengthwise and open it/close it to fit.

I've done this on motocross forks but never on anything else, so I was reluctant to suggest it. Do one fork at a time so you will always have an example to look at. Taking photos as you work can also be helpful.
