Anyone know if these two parts are the same? They have have different part numbers.

I have a 996 in need of a new generator, and the official part for the 996 costs an arm and a leg, while a 999 one from the OEM (who make them for Ducati) is a third of that. So if the two are interchangeable I can put the saw and icepack down....

I think they are different. The shaft off the crank is longer on the 999...or the other way around...so it won't fit.

if you have a three phase 996, the length of the crank is the same.

i don't know if the stators will interchange but the wires on the 999 stator are much shorter than the 996 unit.
i've been wondering this same thing for some time now, but i've never had a 999 and a 996 apart at the same time to check for any other differences.
