Hey guys, hopefully you can assist. I'm curious about the interchangability of cylinders & heads.

Specifically, on my 916, can I change to 996 cylinders and keep my heads? Is the bore dia vs. the head dome configuration a concern? Or are the heads the same and the cylinders can swap under them?

The cylinder stud spacings are different, meaning you can't put 996 cyls/heads on a 916 and 916 cyls can not be reliably overbored to 996 either, 955 is the largest whilst still retaining good reliability (unless you 'stroke' it as well).

The 916SPS (996cc) was built to homologate 996cc displacement for WSBK in advance of the larger displacement becoming standard.
