Hello,

Just a a thought, has anyone tried to fit the 848 TB in a desmoquattro engine?

Thank you

Its an interesting idea, but it wouldn't be very simple. The spacing between the two intake manifolds is different in the desmoquttro. So not only would you have to modify throttle body linkage, but the manifolds themselves to fit on the older motor.

Its probably doable, but I'd say not worth it in the long run. The best way to go is throw on the 748R throttle bodies and injectors, which have showers and are a direct fit.

Since he already has a 748R, I´m guessing that he wants to go "bigger".

I would rather look into boring out the 748R´s TB bottoms.
Look at the 748R reports here..

The inlet trumpet extensions of 25mm would also raise torque with no reduction on the high RPM range.

Yea, I didn't see that...

I agree with Amullo, just bore out the manifold.

Also, bigger isn't necessarily better.

hmmm

I am putting 749s shower injection on my 50mm 916 tb for my 853 build. Picked them up cheap off egay. I am merely have a machinist friend turn some phenolic resin... which looks like carbon and also acts as a thermal barrier. So the bells and shower will slide onto the 50mm throttle. You really dont need any bigger tb's on the desmos unless your in the high horse engines. But the shower will be great. And the electrical connectors all plug in! In theory the longer intake track and larger bell mouth with the shower should increase the torque.
fun fun! Let me know if you need anything made... he is also welding a ti subframe for me as a tester. He loves ducatis and wants to get into cost effective upgrades as a 500 dollar aluminum subframe is just plain silly.
sorry for the rant

When you get that TI subframe, PM me!
subframes

what bike do you have munchdog? We are looking at doing the early sbk's, 999's, and 1098's. I would like to also have them done in aluminum as well obviously.
I already have a 17 mm inlet extension and the TB bored!

I was just playing with the idea, i'm always thinking of ways to change the bike...:)

Duc_duc i want to know more about the titanium subframe!

Put some pictures of your TB change!
ok

will do guys... i will be done with the machining this weekend. I will keep you guys updated on the subframes, and actually is there anything else needed that you guys might want? like?
A race front subframe...
I know that Tom at hypertrick has a special chip that will allow you to run 749/999 TB´s with the 748´s normal 16m ECU.. That way you don´t have to change the wiring loom. Might want to check that out.. It´s mostly to compensate the non-linear to linear TPS.

And enough with the subframe talk please.. Its starting to sound like selling and that opens up rules for advertising from vendors. Discussion on that should be done by PM.

oops

yes back to the throttle bodies...... so we are machining the spacers to fit the bell mouth showers from the 749s to the 916 bodies. Now... i was just going to splice in the plug from the 749 so it can connect to the 916 tps... will this not work? i figured if you can keep the same tps then you dont need any other programming. What is the chip needed to use the linear tps?
just plug the 916 injector connectors onto the 749 injectors if they'll reach, or extend them if not. that way everything else stays as was.
