Cheap Oil...+1

I think it's a great idea to own/operate high quality, expensive machinery and then go "Charlie cheap ass" on the oil. This is a whole new angle for lowering the expenses associated with having a two wheeled Italian girlfriend.

Now Go.......

What you have to remember with viscosity is it's not just for the motor, it's for the gearbox as well.
Only a dummy would put thin oil in there.

Agreed.
Especially with a 90 degree L-Twin considering the nature of the power pulses.
It's only an 848 though:wink2:

Have been told by Ducati Master Technician who also builds and rebuilds Ducati and other engines for racing, that bearings on the big end of the connecting rods and the gear box are where the lubrication is vital. Recommends XXw50 for the necessary film strength (HTHS) to protect those areas.
