Here's my dilemma: The 1000cc I-4's are to fast, the 600's are too revvy, RC51 is too heavy, and the SV650 is too slow.

Never ridden an 848 but I'm looking for a track bike and wondering if an 848 could stand up to the abuse at places like Road America and still be dependable if I use my one week vacation to tow it 4 states away?

How about as whole? Are there better options out there?

I've raced 1000's, 750's & 600's at RA in my life time and would have to say if you want to stay with Ducati's I would recommend the 848. Very usable power throughout the rev range and perfect for tracks like RA, Blackhawk or even Grotten. Very competitive at all levels! If your looking for a perfect all around bike that's cheap to maintain look to the GSXR-750. I ride a 98 748 at RA & BH and although I get smoked in the straights, I make everything up in the corners! Buy what you want so your happy and have a smile on your face every lap you take! :grin2:
