Hello all,

I thought you might be interested in my project

Started with a 92 750ss in good condition (Cost £250:yeah::yeah:)

Will end up similar to this:

Frame, tank, spring and swing arm have been powdercoated

The bright alloy will be anodised

Have the fibreglass kit ready to make the seat unit

Will keep you posted

Whatever makes you happy but I just don't get it. The cafe racers of the day were an attempt to home build what today's sport bikes already are. Deconstructing one to to take it backwards 20 years is not something I understand.

exactly! our early models SS's were already fitted with decades old technology so they weren't going to compete with anything of their day. Spending thousands on them to compete with modern sport bikes is useless so why not customize it to your liking?! Looks tits man!

Thanks for the input guys

Like you said rwortman, whatever makes you happy.

Just think of all the choppers around!!

The idea is to change the look not the performance, as I personally like the look of it

In fact Ducati built their own version of a cafe racer

Having paid the princely sum of £250 for the bike running and in very good condition, I will not be spending much in the way of updating the bike

It will need a new headlight, loom, seat and tail light, I wont be modifying the running gear or engine as it will be fast enough as it is

I also own a 98 Firestorm (Superhawk) no modifications and it still goes faster than I can:eek:

This Ducati will be for zipping around and letting all the other bikers have a look and say how wonderful it is:):):) (or not)

LeoLegend..........Looks tits man!.....not being from the USA is that good or bad?

I reckon it looks "the dogs bollocks" That's an English expression:D

Thanks for the info

Over here in England "it's tits" tends to mean not very good

However it will depend on how it is said

said the right way and it means good

Confused? you will be if you ever visit England:D

Looking forward to making the seat unit

Got some fibreglass kit and all ready to go:eek:

Good.

It's always a bonus when people like what you are doing

And when those people are your peers, then all the better

Thanks

So this is the original bike with the fairing and such removed

The engine has been stripped of paint and sprayed

The next thing will be to change the cambelt

Stripped down, bagged and labelled and put on the shelf

The frame just out of the oven at the powdercoaters and still warm:eek:

I have not done any grinding and cutting of the frame yet. The powdercoating costs £40 and I wanted to see what it would look like

I will cut it about and get it done again as it's cheap enough

The swingarm as well though I am not sure if it will stay red!

Wheels are black

The tank is now in the powdercoaters and will be black

That's it at the moment

I will keep you posted with pictures as and when I get them

Regards

Update 21 Dec 2011

So, the tank came back from the powdercoaters

Here's a taster:D

However there was some problem with the finish having dust particles in

Been back to get it re done and the same thing happened again

They are a good bunch and will be stripping it down and starting again, after Christmas

In the meantime all the bright work has been blasted and I am on with the cafe seat unit which can be found in another thread should you wish to have a look
