Ciao Frattelli,

I have aquired a 2003 749 with a cracked front motor mount. The cracks start at both sides (both left from and right from where they attach to the frame) and are working themselves in towards the middle where the half crank cases come together. Anyone here had any successful experiences welding these puppies shut? I know I'll have to drop the engine, but I am not looking forward to cracking the cases open to do it. At that point I would just get used but matched cases. So I suppose the question is also whether anyone has successfully welded them with out taking the engine apart.

I've welded a few different engine to frame mounts, but to do them right I remove everything inside the motor, clean and re-torque the cases and then deep "V" the crack, run an engine bolt through the hole and re-weld with proper rod, Tig-welding only.....
