749/999 owners with Remus slip-ons

Hi there guys I just have bought a Remus slip-ons for my 2006 749 and now I have fill question for you that have gone thru this?

Did you guys re-map your engine use a power commander box or just leave it the way your engine came from the factory?

I’m going to use a 54mm slips with no cat-eliminator pipe for now. What I’m looking for right now it’s for better sound and maybe a little more torque later on but don’t really want to make any mapping change right now.

Can you guys whom went thru these changes with yours 749 give me some points and tell me how did your bike perform before and after you change yours slip-ons?

Also for those with full system and Power Commander are you happy with the changes could you tell the difference from before and after?

Thanks and best regards

Luciano

I have a half system so its a little more involved than just cans. A PCIII may not be necessary with slip-ons IMO. I first went with the stock map on the PCIII site and it sucked. Getting it remapped for your particular steed is a lot better, HP gains are still minimal though. The bike runs smoother and the acceleration seemed to be a bit crisper. Remus is primarily a loud system that sounds really throaty but if you want more performance go with something like a Leo Vince full system which would be nicer and $$$.

After to Agree with Dark Daddy....

I too have the Remus half system with the CAT removed from the mid pipe and as far as performance goes I have to say I really did not see any huge difference in the bike after it being installed. I did use a PCIII and have it tuned by me local shop just as some personal insurance so I know that she is running smooth. As for sound....well for me I dont think you will find a better sounding exhaust for the xx9 series bikes, I call my bike my giggle machine as everytime I fire it up I get a little giggle LOL. Performance....no...sound...yes.

2 cents.

I went with the slip ons w/ PCIII and put the bike on the dyno for a custom map. No real gains in power but much better throttle response and very clean power delivery. As for more torque, I don't think you'll really notice a difference. Go up a few teeth in the rear to help with the tall gearing and acceleration.

I also went with Remus for the sound and look, they completely change the bike. If I turn it into a track bike they will be replaced by a Leo or Termi system.

Oh, by the way - take your time and some patience pills in putting them on!

Only One !

Where is the cat located on a 04 999? If I replace the stock muffler alone will I lose it?
The Cats in the xx9 series bikes are found A: For the horizontal cylinder , in the mid pipe. B: For the Vertical Cylinder in the 'End Can'. So if you replace just your 'End Can' you will be left with one Cat in the foward cylinders Mid Pipe. To replace the ' End Can ' without either coring the mid pipe of the horizontal cylinder or better still replacing it completely is kind of doing only half the job. A PC111 can be Mapped to suit the fueling needs of either set-up however IMO a balanced system, with both Cat's removed has to be the best way to go !

I've been thinking about going with the REMUS too mainly to lose a big chunk of weight and to get rid of the cats without having to spend a sh%t-load of money. Not to mention, I can't afford the price of some of the equal-length systems (the MOTO-CORSE sure is nice!!). I'm hoping there will also be some HP improvement. Every little bit helps.
When you guys with the Remus and PC III's say that you dyno'ed your bikes and there was "no real difference", what exactly do you mean? There was zero HP/torque gain? Or you only gained one or two hp/ lb/ft of torque, or maybe you actually lost 1 or 2 hp? I'm curious exactly what changes there were. Could you please be a little more specific?
I was hoping for about 5hp and a few lb/ft but maybe that's not to be. Oh well, 10+lbs of weight is still worth it. Thanks!

Just fitted my Remus system for my 749Dark,
So far haven't had any problems running it alone - the odd pop here and there..
Stunning deep sound - no power gain - almost dropped first fast corner tho' it's a fair bit lighter!

Gonna wait and see how much law attention it gets before i think about re-baffling...

By the way - Jay with the white 999 - Motorcycle porn! Sex on wheels mate..

I've really enjoyed the power and much importantly the sound of my exhausts... sure I could have gone with another brand or termi's but I would take remus all over again if given the choice.
as for the pcIII, i got mine mapped and ended up with 99hp w/ stock air filters. i'll attached the scanned print out they gave me in a few

I have just fitted 2nd hand Remus system, end cans plus replacement pipe on horizontal cylinder.
Had the odd pop, but today had constant popping and exhaust fire setting seat on fire!
Mildly amusing...no nads scorched...so just a rebuild tomorrow.
Just mention..dont ignore too much popping!
