There is an NHTSA Bulletin available for CRG Levers involving the front Brake Lever's listed below. I did a search on the forum here but didn't get any hits back so I am posting this up. I have emailed Constructors Racing Group and am waiting to hear back from them. I will post up their reply once I get it.

Potential Number Of Units Affected : 1611

Summary:

CERTAIN CRG FRONT BRAKE LEVERS, MODEL RB-511 DESIGNED FOR USE ON 2004-2006 YAMAHA YZF-R1 MOTORCYCLES, AND 2005-2006 YAMAHA YZF-R6 MOTORCYCLES. MODEL RB-512 IS DESIGNED FOR USE ON 2003-2006 DUCATI 749 AND 999 MOTORCYCLES, AND ON 2004-2006 APRILIA MILLE R MOTORCYCLES. DUE TO A MISALIGNMENT OF THE PIVOT BORE, THE BRAKE LEVER COULD BECOME SEIZED IN THE BRAKE ENGAGED POSITION, THEREBY PREVENTING THE FRONT BRAKE FROM DISENGAGING.

Consequence:

A NON-RELEASE CONDITION COULD CAUSE DRAG ON THE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM, WHICH COULD POSSIBLY RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

Remedy:

THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED THE AGENCY WITH A REMEDY AND NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. OWNERS MAY CONCACT CRG AT 831-763-7811.

YA, locked up on me!!! Luckely I was in control and cruising at a speed were as I was abel to stop and not do a head over front indo! But I did blow my knee out when I got my feet on the ground. (both knees bent side-ways under the sudden weight of my bike, ouch!!!) I wasn't a happy camper! Should I pursue this to CRG or chaulk it up as a freak accident of miss fortune?

Personally, I would only persue it to get new levers so they can make things right.

Hey staves now I remember, you told me about it the very next day after it happened to you, it didn't occur to me that perhaps it could have been a manufacturer error, since CRG was a widely used product.

I say you have 'em make it right not by taking them to the cleaners but give them a call, tell them what happened and see what they say about it, perhaps they already have some sort of remedy. If not see if you both can come to a reasonable middle ground that is fair to both sides.

*UPDATE*

I was contacted by Joe at CRG today and they took my information down. They are working with the NHTSA to resolve the problem which will mean replacement levers. Joe wasn't 100% sure HOW they would be handling the replacements but his thinking was that CRG would be sending out replacements to their dealers and the dealers would look after the customers directly. That isn't written in stone though.

I was told explicitly though that any bike with an affected lever should NOT be ridden until a replacement unit is installed.

I imagine that is to cover them legally but its sound advice. I am swapping back to my stock lever until the replacements are in.

I would suggest that anyone with CRG Levers contact CRG directly and go from there. Hope this helps other owners.

I was curious if you'd been using these levers for quite a while or was this incident fairly soon after you installed them...

The reason I ask is that I've been using mine for over a year and didn't keep the stock levers. Track day in a week and I don't really want to be hoping some new levers show before I go...

It's probably better to err on the safe side and put your original levers back on right away, there is too much to risk.
