Hi guys just wondering can you put the pistons and cylinders of an 848 onto a 748r i know u can do the 853 conversion but the kits are very expensive and hard to come by in the uk and the 848 are everywhere any advice would be great :)

Pretty sure the testastretta jugs aren't gonna work on a desmo block and heads. Better off stuffing an 848 motor in the bike at that point.

A few have made the swap,search here for details.from what I have read its far from plug and play putting the newer motors in the older series

It seems the 748R frame lends itself to a testa swap more so as it has the deep vee center bracing required to properly clear the testa style throttle bodies.

Some have run the later testa motors just fine off the Marelli 1.6 ECU. The motor will drop right in the frame.

Issue is sorting the airbox and wiring, though you might be able to slightly modify a 996R or 998 airbox to work.

As other's said, if you're looking for a beefier powerplant and don't want to do an 853 conversion to your stock 748 motor swap in a late model testa motor and call it a day.
