Does some one know if the 1998 crankshaft and transmission and associated parts would fit these ebay cases?

the part number application is only 2002 748r, which is a little odd. wonder why they're r only?

must be a 2002 thing. the base 748 cases are only 2002 as well.

2001 end in a, not b. otherwise same numbers, r specific to r.

98 is single phase alt and stacked thin shims crank. 99 is 3 phase alt and thick shims. 02 has the different oil screen, drilled case screw and different oil pump with the relief valve in the pump cover, not between the cases which the 98 may/should have.

so yes, but no-ish. depends how adaptable you are.
