748 died on ride, no idea what caused it.

Hello,

Was out on a ride a few days ago on the 748 and it suddenly lost power. It was still on, barely idling and then eventually died completely. The bike turns over and sounds like it wants to start at times but ultimately doesn't at all. Curious if this is common, or what possibilities could be at hand here. Thank you for your time!

Attempting to start.

Note: Fluid on ground is not from the bike.
Open the tank and turn the run switch on and look for fuel churning in the tank. Sounds like its not getting fuel, but hard to tell. Fuel, fire, spark. Check that, make sure its firing, then check fuel pressure.

If you hit it with starter fluid will it fire? Carb cleaner works also.

Perhaps check the fuel lines on the fuel pump. I had one of the lines come loose and had similar issues.
Pull the line off the tank. Turn key on and capture the gas. Try one more time to see if it's consistent.
Are you getting the fuel pump prime when ignition is turned on?
whats the voltage on the battery ? my shitbox 999 did something similar and it ended up being wires from the alternator to Reg/rec causing low voltage issues , bloody annoying i almost put a rag in the tank and torched the bitch
my quick indicative checks are:

key on - if lights come on and it will crank, battery and charging are ok.

key on - if fuel pump runs, pump, ecu, ecu power are all ok. coils, injectors and fuel pump are all on the same circuit from the same relay.

cranking - if the fuel pump runs while it's cranking, the rotation sensor is ok. should have spark and injectors.

if all that's ok then i go looking at fuel hoses off pump or filter inside tank or other stuff.

Sounds very much like an in-tank fuel line issue as noted above by others.

Remove the fuel pump assembly from the tank, replace the fuel filter while you're there, pull out the fuel pump itself and check there's no debris underneath, inspect the fuel lines carefully, then double check all the fuel line connections are tight.
Just replace the fuel lines, & filter. Especially if you have no idea when it was done last--if ever.

By fuel churning do you mean this?
Yep, that. Is caused by a loose or split fuel line. I would replace them with the hard plastic style.

Do you have another link to a set of these? Those are currently out of stock. Thank you my friend!
