In a previous thread I inquired about a engine noise on my 748. I first tought it was in the water pump but 20 years of race cars with open exhausts and 300K on bikes without ear plugs has left my hearing not what it could be. The noise is the clutch pus rod spinning in the slave cylinder. I put some grease in it and the noise went away. My question is should the pushrod be spinning? I tried to turn it with the engine off and it seems tight. I start the engine and it turns wwith the engine. I would have guessed it to "float" and turn only randomly.

+1 bearing.
Also, check the two rubber o-rings that are on the shaft. Pull the shaft all the way out to see them. They're probably toast too.
