I have just bought a 2003 748s and on my first ride today it broke down. When i got the bike home the fault was the 40amp fuse for the charging system had blown, so i fitted a new fuse tested alternator output which was correct and tested the battery which was fine, so why did the fuse blow? Any comments are welcome.

Check your wiring from the generator to alternator/regulator and also from alternator/regulator to battery.

The yellow wires that run from generator -> Alternator/regulator are notorios on burning up and shortcircuits.
