Is a 748 engine case the same as a 749? I found a line on one super cheap and I'd like to jump on that deal asap if it is. I'll be searching posts until I find or get a response. Thanks for your time.

Highly unlikely they would fit; The 748 was a Desmoquattro and shared cases with the 916 (and older models before it) when they switched to 996 the spacing for the cylinder studs had to be moved further apart but the 996 still had a smaller bore than the 998/999 Testastretta engine so, any other differences aside, the cylinder stud spacings are going to be bigger on the newer Testastretta engine and AFAIK the 749 uses the same cases as the 999.

Kindly understand that hey are two different motors, nothing is interchangable. And the cheapest Ducati in the paper can cost the most within 3k miles. Take your time with a Ducati purchase, there is a LOT of crap out there......
