53 ST4S New immobiliser ECU

Hi, ive ordered a new immobiliser ECU for my 53 plate ST4S. Ive read that the ECU isnt paired to the engine ECU until it is coded in using the red key...could anyone please confirm this is the case. Can i try the immobiliser ECU on the bike (to check it fixes the fault) without pairing it thus it can be used on any other bike in case its not the problem and i have to re sell?? Cheers

yes, use the black key to run.

When you will use the red key you will pairing the ecu to the bike.
