no doubt your bike will ''feel'' much better after a new chain is installed ,new tires etc . a new, properly adjusted chain with decent sprockets will do wonders for riding quality . i'm not surprised you notice the lean spot a lot less. however , the dammed 3900 lean spot, will remain. one of my bikes, an 2002 st2, had a bad case of the 3900 rpm lean spot and occasional backfiring . an fim 161 chip solved that. it also ran cooler .
enjoy your st .
