2019 950 Stalling issues

So, I got the bike back from my dealer with an "update." The bike now stalls frequently. If you pull in the clutch when the revs are above say 4-5k the engine just stalls. The only way to keep it stalling coming to a light is to let the revs drop really low before you pull in the clutch. Obviously, this is totally unacceptable, as it stalled about 5-6 times on me yesterday and then gave me a hard time restarting each time. Also, when I stopped for fuel it gave me a hard time restarting. Is anyone else experiencing this. The dealer is getting a call today. Surprisingly, they are actually open on Mondays.

Did the dealer explain why the tank needed replacement?
Yes. Seems like a logical answer.

Explanation was that issues is caused by reaction of Ethanol in our Gas and Release Agents that were used in production of a plastic Tank.
I guess fuel in Europe does not have Ethanol and they have non issue. My throttle bodies were covered in that nasty white/yellow goo and it was plugging a idle hole in one of the TBs basicaly chocking a bike when TBs are closed. It runs amazing now. It was horrible before.

Europe have 5% and 10% etanol in our ”gasoline”.

I wonder if it would benefit running a Ethanol free Gas.... but with our tank being so damn small.... it would not be very convenient
You guys that have had your tanks replaced, do you use E10 or E15? The internet tells me that this is the normal ethanol mixtures in petrol in the US.

Your new tank should not have the same issues I would hope. Confirm that with the dealer.

All new bikes have ethanol resistant componentry. Older bikes and cars suffered from ethanol degradation effects.

Very disappointing that Ducati blew it on this run and fitted hypers with non ethanol compatible tanks if that is in case the true issue.

Once again, how is this not a recall item? Bike can have the engine cut when throttle is reduced at a most inopportune time.

I have almost 17K miles on my 2019. Had the throttle bodies cleaned early on and no problems since. Maybe the degradation stops at a certain point when whatever was/is dissolving fully washes off.
Don’t get your hopes up too much guys as mine had new throttle bodies new tank new ecu at 2800 miles and all
Failed again at 3400 ish miles. Ducati Uk still denied it was a problem which is why I sold the bike. Shame as I liked it but got a Ktm sdr instead to fill the hooligan void in my life..

How does the dealer explain the issue recurring?

They don’t here in the Uk they just try to find a way to make out it’s your fault and offer no explanation or apology.
It’s almost as if they think they are doing you a favour by looking at it.
Shocking and sad but true here.
Sadly it seems I am part of the group, my 2020 base model has stalled out more times then I care to admit. I imagine I will pull the tb's myself. Dealer is a couple hours away, and always say they are booked months out.
I would consider a lawsuit against Ducati. Get an attorney who gets paid a contingency fee so you don't shell out any cash upfront. Absolutely unacceptable. IMHO
Thinking I should wait until there is evidence the issue has been resolved before gambling on the '22 Hyper SP (even though I desperately NEED it).
Does the US hypermotard have the E10 sticker?

I'm with you. I actually have my eyes on one locally (it's a 2019 HM950SP) but this issue is putting me off. Knowing my luck, I would buy the bike and run into this issue and Ducati won't cover it under warranty.

My 2020 950SP was covered under warranty no question asked. Dealer hear of this problem before. I would imagine if the issue will repeat and its been addressed during warranty ....... they should fix it even when warranty expires?

That’s what I would think, but look at some of the responses on here. I guess it’s a dealer by dealer situation but I’m not willing to take that gamble. Pay $14k for a bike and then turn around to pay for a tank and throttle bodies. Should just buy new at that point. I don’t know, it’s just super discouraging.
Dropped mine off today at the shop for the stalling issues, the service guy was familiar with the issue and said to expect about a week and a half to get the new tank and get it all taken care of. I’ll update once I have any new info, mines a base 2021 hyper 950 with approx 2500 miles bought new

What fuel do you pump for the bike? Location?

I always use 91 unleaded and located in Northern California

Damn, this makes me really worried about buying a HM950SP...

Have any of you guys filed a claim with NHSTA? If I owned a bike, I would file this so it catches Ducati's attention to get this resolved.
