Ha forsythem, I have no problem getting a police escort. That was the 4th year in a row that i have crossed the nullabore, first time on the old girl but i had a police escort EVERY time. Usually in S.A. Go figure.

Monster4lee, you may be on to something there. Glad they didn't get me at my fastest across some of those nice wide open long stretch's.

That's fantastic, good on you for showing what we can all still do with our bevels.

My one and only crossing (Perth to Brissy) was on a brand new 500 XL I'd bought in Perth in 1981. Not much chance getting caught speeding. Meanwhile some of my mates had gone around to my mum's house and told her they could borrow my 79 SS so she let them and the buggers rode it to Bathurst for the Easter races. I was coming across just after and when I got into SA I kept coming across WA riders heading home doing the "going out of my mind" signal as I passed. Five days of madness but what a great ride it is. I'd better do it again I think.

Here's a picture of the buggers at a well known pub when they got back to Brissy on the Monday arvo. Amazingly I found this photo years ago on another site and I can recognise my two mates but I have no idea who the others are. Cheeky pricks!

Hi Duccout, there is 22,000 miles on this gt and the speedo broke not long into this trip so a couple more on top of that. And this bike is such a pleasure to ride and goes great as well.

Scratch that. It’s the other side of the peninsula. Done the ride twice. Beautiful. Slept in front of the the sign at the Nullubore roadhouse. Memories. You really learn how little is out there and how big the place is.
