When I turn it to the left it wants to turn the top of the tube off
What am I missing guys

Clockwise should increase preload if it is all the way out (counterclockwise) stop turning.

It will not turn either way
When I turn to the left it starts to unscrew the part of the top tube

The silver nut looks chewed up as well. Probably best to leave it alone and get s suspension specialist to investigate. I adjusted mine and it turned freely. I have skyhook.

Did you adjust it with a socket, because that's what it takes to turn mine.

I also hear people talking about "clicks". Mine doesn't click at all. It just turns

About 185 in my gear. Allegedly 1 turn out for each 10kgs or something. There's a post on the UK site about the adjustments for preload and the equation. I followed and it has improved the ride.

When you say 1 turn, do you mean 1 full rotation? I don't think it has that much adjustment does it?

So I got home from my little excursion and am wondering as I posted when I turn the nut it wants to turn the whole top of the shock tube out
If I do unscrew it all the way out to investigate will it be like a jack in the box suprise?

I don't know why Ducati doesn't have some sort of guide or chart for this.

How do I even know what the optimum front and rear preload should be?

By myself
myself with luggage
me and passenger
me and passenger with luggage that weighs what?

Yes. The right leg is effectively just a normal leg. The compression on the spring isn't completely insane, but it'll take a bit to get it back in.
