The bike has 14000 miles on it, I got it with 8000 & I haven't done the valves yet. I have this ticking/knocking sound coming from the engine. The sound isn't consistent & is only there when the bike is started up cold. when it's at higher RPM (any thing above 1500 RPM sound is gone). Once the bike is warm the sound is gone even when at a warm start up sound is still gone. I originally thought the sound came from the clutch so I got it replaced & when my friend & I took off the clutch cover large broken up spring(s) fell out. Maybe that's the cause of the sound idk. We don't think that the pieces found in the cover even belong to the bike.
So what do you guys think the sound is & how to fix it, thanks

Video of sound & picture of broken springs are in YouTube link

that's not uncommon on the s2r800.

you could replace the complete aptc clutch with the older style "normal" wet clutch, which will have the older style heavier lever, or get a later 696/796 assembly (also aptc), as they don't seem to do it.
