I have a chance to acquire a 2004 S4R Monster but cannot confirm whether it has the Testa motor or not. The owner doesn't know, and it isn't close enough for me to go see unless I'm buying it.

Anyone know for sure?

It's a 996 so it would be a desmoquattro me thinks.

Yuppers. What he said. 2004 is a 996 motor.

See on the bottom how it's kinda pointy on the bottom? This is a testastretta motor.

Still a hoot though.

That is stock Desmoquattro 996cc engine S4R. That was the only engine that came on S4R in 2004. The picture shows totally stock S4R with Desmoquattro engine.

In 2006 the S4R was divided into two levels. The Testastretta engine came on the higher level equipped S4R that had Ohlins suspension. The base had the old Desmoquattro and Showa suspension. The next year 2007 both had the Testastretta engine.
