2000 996 Rear Suspension

I was under the impression the the 996 went from a Showa rear to the Ohlins rear in the 2001 model year. I am buying a 2000 996 from the original owner and it has an Ohlins rear on it. He claims to not have upgraded.. Is this possibly the case? Did they change to the Ohlins halfway through the 2000 model year?

Not sure but I thought they were all Showa except for SP/SPS models?

In the early days of 916/748 production they were known to come out of the factory with whatever was available, maybe old habits die hard....
I think all 996 monos were Ohlins, my '99 has Ohlins as the stock shock.
