Hello,

Am considering this bike and wanted any feed back. The info available on the SPS bikes is confusing to say the least. This bike has 3 digit plaque, the Euro headlight switch and odometer in kilometers. Under a couple thousand miles on it. Thanks.

Howdy,

It should have a carbon fiber front fender and a Termi exhaust (either stock or the 50mm carbon can one that can in the box with the bike).

Check with Ducati to confirm the VIN number and engine number. It took a few days for them to get back with me. Here is their email address:

Best regards,

Local bike?
Is it just me or does it look like there is lettering on the front cylinder head - if so it's not an SPS.

916 sps con't

The original front fender has been misplaced, it was carbon and pretty weathered. The exhaust and chip are fairly new. Is from a collection on east coast.

Sounds legit. US versions will start ZDM3.

The -97´s didnt have carbonfiber fenders, those came on the -98´s
But the termis should come with the bike. The -97´s didnt get the "higher" carbonshield like later sps models, but had the same model as the normal 916.

Check the ECU. Only the SPS and SP3 used the P8 in -97 http://www.ducatiparts-online.com/s...t_full/Screen shot 2011-06-23 at 15.25.50.jpg
The 748, 748SP and 916 all used 16M ECU´s http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/weldoid/DSC01784.jpg

The plaque looks good. The -97 plaques where the old style with only a number, so that seems legit
