Can someone tell me how long it takes to examine the timing gears on a 1964 Ducati Diana Mark 3? This is very important to me if someone could please let me know I would very much appreciate it. Thanks Jeff

To examine the tooth engagement? Not long if you're used to it and already have some machinists blue.

To correct something by reshimming the gear would take a LOT longer.

I would ask over at the Vintage forum for a better answer.

I would just like to know approximately how long it takes to take the cover off and gear shifter just inspect the timing gears. I had a motorcycle mechanic charge me $900 for this. Is it reasonable? Thank you Jeff

If you're sure that's all that was done, I would say "no...".

But if the right side of the engine was disassembled in order to replace a gear and reshim the shaft...I might say yes, depending on how many parts were replaced.
