Hi there,

I've noticed a recurring problem on my 1198 recently - when in top gear and wide open, it begins to slip above 6k RPM. It seems to do fine in other gears up to the limiter, but if placed in 6th and floored at lower speeds (40mph or so), it will begin to slip. It also seems to slip under clutchups. It grabs well in other gears and daily-driving situations. Does this sound like a symptom of a worn clutch or possibly a glazed clutch?

Thanks!

Sounds like it’s probably time for a new clutch pack. Check the basket for wear and replace the springs while you’re at it.

Get the clutch pack out and measure the thickness of the pack and make sure it's still within specs.

If in spec use sand paper on both steel and organic plates, clean with brake cleaner and reinstall.

If out of specs then shop for a new pack.
