the 1098s is an `08, the 1198 a `09.I can get either brand new for 15.5K
I cant decide which or even if I need one. I have to decide quick. The 1098s deal ends this week. I would have to drive 700 miles to pick up the s.

1098s. Suspension is fairly harsh on the showa. Sure 1098 will have more than enough power. Depends on your application for the bike.

Good luck on that pricing. It sounds almost too good to be true.

I just picked up a new 2008 1098S model and was going through the same process of trying to decide. The 1198 has the newer engine casings and so forth, and it has Traction Control. Otherwise it has about 10hp difference.

I found that the pricing for the 1098S (with Ducati money running until the end of the month) a more attractive ($$$$) proposition.

Stock pricing were I live on 1098S and 1198 standard were pretty close, but when you added in all the "S" factors for the 1198 = big difference. Possibly too much to pay for traction control and a few more horses.

Good luck with your decision and your purchase.

Well, since you're asking, a no brainer - 1098s hands down. Just the forks after market are $3k, wheels another $2k, rear shock mmm, just get a TTX on that one.

There you have it, at least $5k diff at the same price. Yes, the wheels make a difference when turning in, trust me and many others on this one. The forks, really no need to mod them whereas the Showas you must!

Rest my case without saying more

Easy I would go with the "s". The 1198 and 1098 are pretty close to the same bike. But the "s" model has many upgrades. Easy choice.........1098s, and never look back, well accept the people your passing.:D

...and another on the "S" bandwagon. Not even a contest.

I had the same dilemma last week and opted for a 2010 1198 over a 2008 1098S.

Main reason was the 1098S needed a new upper fairing and didn't have all the spare key or key card. Plus it was sitting for around 9 mos.
