1000SS Seat Comfort

Quick question please

I took the 1000SS for a spin around the block (test ride) and i had my wife on board. The one thing that we both noticed was that we were pushed up on to each other in the seating position. Is this normal for this model. I have been 2 up on the 999/749 and there was definite room between myself and my wife on those models.

We got off the bike and could not believe it was the case with the 1000. Just wondering if its a year model thingy.........we rode a 03 model.

We are looking at purchasing a new model and thought the 1000 would be a winner.

It's her fault. She needs to be trained to sit farther back, so her butt is touching the grab rail. Had the same issue with my wife - there is something about that seat that just makes it feel right to the passenger to move forward, but in fact their proper place is up on top near the very back. When she is up against you like that there is, like, 8" of space behind her that she is not using. Once she learns you will both be comfortable. It is a fine 2-up bike if the passenger knows what they are doing.

I can't speak on 2 up riding with the aftermarket seats, but I will say this much.

I ran a Corbin on my 900 for about 6k miles.

I went back to the regular seat because I couldn't move around as easily on the corbin. Once I went to the stock seat I was able to move on the bike MUCH easier.

I don't have a problem with the stock seat, 600 mile days don't wear me out at all on it.

I sold te corbin and haven't looked back. however, my fiance can't ride on anything BUT the corbin on his monster. When I say can't, I mean he hates life. When I get on his monster, I can't stand it. I prefer the stock seat.

All depends on what your butt likes!

I have a tendancy to choose the 'petite' kind of girls. I weigh 70kg and don't carry any fat myself. There were a number of times we would be BOTH on the one seat which is not altogether a BAD thing. I have ben told though by one female friend.... "There is just something about sitting up there, just near that edge, that make the ride a little more enjoyable.. if you know what I mean " Unfortunately I didn't at that stage!!
