i know this is a very vague question....but....a guy i know just purchased a 2005 RC51. And he was razzing me tonight about tearing my little Sophia up (my Duc!). While i think he can do it anyways, as i believe he's a better rider....i was curious...what the specifications were on a 2005 RC51...i couldn't find them anywhere on the web...all i could find was weight, etc. Nothing for horsepower or torque stats on the 2005 rc51 model.

Given equal riders, was curious what the matchup would be like ( like i said, very vague and lots of what if's .... i know )

anyone have specs?

Here's a good one for ya Soulsedge. A good friend of mine currently owns among others, both both these models! Within a couple years of each anyway. He's been ridin for many years and even used to race some down in CA. He's been the Finance Mgr at our local Harley shop for years as well. They also have the only Dynajet Dyno up here.

Anyway, here's his addy: [email protected]. Tell him akduc Mark sent ya. Actually I need to tell him about this place anyway. He just got the 996 late last year and the RC51 the year before. But I do know he really enjoys both for what they are.

Honda does.

"Prodigious power is produced across a broad rpm band,
peaking with 133 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 71 lb./ft. of torque
at 8000 rpm in street-legal trim."

Click on the pic to go to the Honda website for all specs.

i really like the rc51. that guy though is a loser. tell him hes a squid and your dad can beat up his dad.

i have never ridden an rc51 but have read alot about it. (thats gotta be just as good right?) it has a real narrow power band almost stupid for the street. and of course really tall gearing (like ducatis) out of the crate.
its a very cool bike would love to get one but honda has let it go by the waste side and just raised the price up 12k from like 10.5k over the years. look for this to be its last year. they dropped the vtr superhawk this year.

the rc51 vs the 996 to him is a paper race worthy of only a true squid. peak power on a dyno is of little relevnce. (to me anyhow)

thats all i have to say about that. (forest gump)

My best friend and only riding buddy has a 2001 RC51 and I have a 2000 996. In near-stock trim with pipes/chip and gearing, he told me his RC was mid 120's, perhaps 124 if I remember correctly. Mine in similar state of tune was 113.

Roll on drags and spirited riding had us pretty close, maybe him a bike length faster after a speed run. I also weigh about 75 pounds more than him, so the bikes are pretty even acceleration wise even though the RC has about 10-12 more hp.

the honda is nice... but imo just point to the ducati label on your bike, tell him to read it and eat shiit!
