Has anyone had spools installed on their swingarms. How did you go about it?

Or you can make (or have made) a set of axle slider/spools. Know anyone with lathe?

I'd like to see a of spools that slide into the '03 axle. That would be best. I'll pass on the $285 motowheels chain adjuster/spools.

I've been doing it the easy way: I have a long half-inch aluminium rod that I slide through the axle when I want to put it on the stand. It sticks out about two inches on either side of the swingarm. It works with my Pit Bull just like a set of spools. This seems a lot more secure to me that the other method of hoisting the swingarm with the little pads from underneath.
That works great until you need to remove the rear wheel. Then what do you do?

I use a Pitbull "universal" type stand...works great and never really miss not having spools, though I sure would mount some up if it were possible.
Does anyone have the Motowheels chain adjusters? Review?

Lynwood
These Gilles put the spool on the stand and the hook on the bike. I have the adjusters and love them...If I didn't have spool bosses already on my bike, I'd have these.

(requires Gilles chain adjusters)

OK, I have a dumb question. What kind of stand do you use for the Gilles "hooks". Keef95 mentioned putting spools on the stand, is that custom? Or do some stands come that way?

Thanks.

And I think this is a good thread for the 749/999 owners, as the swingarm is pretty tapered, and doesn't give you alot to work with for universal stands to hold onto.

I don't need to remove the rear wheel very often, and when I do I just flip the top supports over and and use the pads. Easy.

Good question. What you need to use is a stand that has what looks like spools on them. I have the Gille chain adjuster/hooks on my Aprilia RSV. Lockhart Phillips sells a stand specifically for them. The stand isn't too impressive looking, so I've held off buying it. They also sell adapters that you can use on other stands, the problem I have is can't find that other that the adapters fit on.

The Ducati Performance 749/999 pad stand works well, though I prefer spools.
