Greetings I'm new here. I've been riding an R6 the last few years and was wanting to try something Italian. Currently trying to decide between an '01 Aprilia RSV R and an '03 Duc 749.

The 749 I'm looking at has 13,500 miles looks to be in pretty good cosmetic condition; which usually means the owner took pride in his bike. Is US$5,500 a good price for it? What are some of the things to look out for mechanically?

When he cold started the bike he said it takes time to warm up to 114 degree before it could be ridden. Is that a true statement?

Thanks Duc riders.

a good warm up is cheap insurance on duc's.i'd be looking for a receipt for belts and service work as it was due at 12,000 miles.a steady idle at 1200 to 1400 indicates its running well. while there is some ''friday'' bikes around, the 03 bikes seem basically problem free.clutch slave issues are common throughout the model range, oil cooler leaking also was a recall issue
