so i'm checking valve clearancees on the 748 and i haven't seen anything for this model. I have the Ducati service manual for the 916 and 748 , but they don't line up with the specs posted here in the hall of wisdom. are the specs the same for all desmoquatros ? ie all 9xx and all 748 the same ?
also what is " limt "?

the specs in the manual say

------------------------------------748------------916---------- Limit
opening rocker : intake_____.13-.18______10-.15_______.05
__________ exhaust______.18-.23_____.15-.20_______.05

closing rocker : Intake_____.13-.18______.05-.10 ______.20
____________exhaust ____.08-.13______.05-.10 _____ .20

People in the know have closed up the gaps on the original recommended clearances for the Desmoquattros. Here are the new specs many are now using:
Intake openers and all closers- .10 mm
Exhaust openers- .15 mm

I have set mine to these specs on 3 desmoquattros that I have owned (2 916's and 1 ST4). Have put a combined 52,000 miles on all three bikes. These specs seem to work well.

I have customers who have raced their Desmoquattro's and they have even tightened up on these specs by a few .001 inches with good results.

I don't have the mm numbers, but here are the inch numbers that I use to use:

.005 openers
.004 closers

All the way around... I use to set my closers closer to .002 on my race motor with MBP's. But its kinda risky with the stock 1/2 rings.

In terms of measuring. Always measure between the lobe and the rocker.
