Hey guys,

here's my issue:

picked up a very clean '00 996 last month with just under 2,000 miles. obviously bike has not had much road time and I wonder if engine is properly broken in, but anyway I know the belts were changed summer before last, so I should definitely be looking to do that over the winter.

With respect to valve adjustment, what do you guys reckon I should do? is it more a question of mileage versus time? should I wait until valves are properly seated (6k?) or should I be looking to do a valve adjustment soon as well?

TIA.

Frank

Good to know here as well- grabbed a 99 996 with 4K a few months ago in a similar situation (but on original timing belts  (though soon to be replaced).

Negative on mine - oil was changed annually and was not hot rodded (I trust the prior owner on this). I may check the valves myself when I do the belts, but without the "kit" I would not be able to adjust anything.

If you're going to be in there doing the belts...You might as well check them!

Check them now...check them later!
