This image was taken after the 1995 (?) Durango BMW MOA National. Kathy and I pulled out oafter the National and parked the van and trailer and decided to ride the Durango-Silverton narrow gage after seeing the engines in Silverton. Never been that close to a steam engine before! THEY ARE ALIVE!!

Nice. hung out in Durango and Hesperus for a few months as part of a 6-month, 9000 mile walkabout during one of the US economic "corrections." The steam trains echoing in the canyon still ring in the memory.

Hi Bucky, a couple of years ago on the way to an event in Grand Junction I spent a day on "ELY" NV. they have a museem there and a train ride. It is fabulous!!! The sheirff is on the train, the bandits are on the train, the hooker is on the train (She sat with me since I was alone .... NICE) The train took us to a wildwest (set) there was a gun fight, a lynching. We got robbed .... It was fabulous ;-)

Great pix! Check out the steam train from Route 66 town Williams, AZ to the South rim of the Grand Canyon if you haven't. It's a fun, campy but fun train robbery, and open bar.. a relaxing way to get to the canyon vs driving a cage.
