  1. New owner- Face full of Fuel when doing a wheelie?

    Multistrada
I never really bought that rationale from Ducati. The belt change interval on my old 1990 ST1100 IIRC was about 40k miles, and who knows how many years, and it has some pretty tight bends. I finally changed it at 65k miles, after 10 years of ownership, only because I was selling it to a friend...
  2. New owner- Face full of Fuel when doing a wheelie?

    Multistrada
For some reason, I was thinking the time recommendation for belts was still 2years. But it's 5 years huh? Good to know, since mine were changed about 2 years ago. Guess I should look at the manual every once in a while...
  3. Thruxton R. Is here.

    Chit Chat
I kept my Thruxton R for about 2 years. Loved the engine, but couldn't bond with the bike. Ergos were not good for me. Traded it in for a Street Triple R, which is a fun little bike. I still miss the Thrux's engine though...
  4. Joke for Today

    Chit Chat
Yes, the story continues: You took the newspaper man's money and spent it on nifty stuff, and now you want to whine about it...
  5. Aerostich R-3 suit, size 40, Hi-Viz. Price drop

    Gear
Price drop, $400. Paypal is fine. Great deal for a new stich.
  6. trouble finding pannier part - 2015 1200S

    Multistrada
After losing one of them off of my old '10 multi, I started storing the rubber pads in the R dash pocket when the panniers are removed. Works for me.
  7. Is this coolant in the oil??

    Multistrada
I've never heard or seen that. Usual dealer prep involves assembling the bike, charging the battery, and putting fuel in the tank. Fluids are put in at the factory prior to test running the engines. I'm not a motorcycle importer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
  8. Is this coolant in the oil??

    Multistrada
Even -IF- Ducati determines you have a head gasket leak, they ain't gonna give you a new engine. Take it from someone who has been down that road. Had both heads, all valves, and the rear cylinder replaced on my old '10 multi due to coolant erosion. And that was from the wrong coolant being...
  9. Is this coolant in the oil??

    Multistrada
Looks like 2000 mile oil to me.
  10. we hold these truths to be self-evident

    Ducati Motorcycle Chat
Just posting my thoughts like everyone else. That's what forums are for. If you feel belittled by my post that's on you.
  11. we hold these truths to be self-evident

    Ducati Motorcycle Chat
I approve and/or disapprove. Whatever... Which way is the wind blowing right now? 90% of the time this is a place I go to for some mindless entertainment. Surprising how some folks get themselves into a tizzy about changes on here. It is just a motorcycle forum ya know.
  12. Seat lock won’t unlock

  13. Seat lock won’t unlock

    Multistrada
I vaguely remember someone posting up how they were able to release the seat with a long screwdriver. Seems the L side rear body panel has to be loosened first. Then they were able to slide the screwdriver underneath the seat, and push the small lock lever to release the seat. Of course, it's...
  14. What helmet are you using. Bought Arai > too noisy

    Multistrada
Seriously^^^ I developed significant tinnitus about 3 years ago. It came on fairly quickly over the span of just a few weeks, and was almost a life altering thing for me, as far as my ability to work and enjoy life. Gradually I have become 'habituated' to it, because that is all one can do...
  15. What helmet are you using. Bought Arai > too noisy

    Multistrada
If one is patient and experiments with the windscreen mounting or some of the aftermarket mounts, there are ways to make the stock windscreen provide better wind protection and decrease the wind noise. A bigger windscreen is not always the answer.
  16. Replacing the right pannier slot

    Multistrada
Same here on my '12. Not too difficult to figure out.
  17. What helmet are you using. Bought Arai > too noisy

    Multistrada
This is also my experience. I haven't noticed Arais being any noiser than other helmets I've worn, but the multi is definitely one of the noisiest motorcycles I've owned. It took me forever to find a solution as far as the wind roar. I have some of the old "Aztec" spacers to change the...
  18. SamePicturePerYear

    Multistrada
Kind of reminds me of those 'How many differences can you spot' in puzzle magazines.
  19. 2018 Multi has been in the shop for month...:(

    Multistrada
Maybe DNA has stepped up their customer service over the last few years. I never even got a return call from them after leaving several voicemails back when my '10 multi was DOA for 2 months from antifreeze erosion.
