  1. cheap oil pressure switch fix

    Superbikes
So how much are one of these oil sender units supposed to cost anyway? Called a Ducati dealer today and the price was over $60 AU. I don't remember them being that expensive. What other options do I have living in Australia? We don't have a NAPA here.
  2. Spark plug leads - how to get them back on?

    Superbikes
Thanks Brad, you're suggestion to pull the wire through helped. I *think* they're on. As bartenderplease noted, the 'click' is very soft and hardly noticeable, so here's hoping.
  3. Spark plug leads - how to get them back on?

    Superbikes
Hey, I changed the spark plugs on my 996 today, but am having lots of trouble getting the leads to go back on. Pushing as hard as I can, I cannot get them to 'click' on to the spark plugs. Is there some sort of trick to getting these back on?
  4. 996 cam belt change time. Question about tensioners.

    Superbikes
Doing the cam belt. With the belts off I inspected the mobile and steady tensioners and found they felt a little dry but they rotated freely. Should these be disassembled and greased or replaced periodically? I'm pretty sure I've read that these can be a failure point, and want to make sure...
  5. Gas tank fuel line quick disconnect replacements / upgrade

    Hall of Wisdom
Anybody got a source for the metal QD fittings in Australia? I really don't want to have to wait 2 to 4 weeks to ride again...
  6. Just picked up a 996

    Superbikes
The front number plates are easy enough to find... but where do you find rear number plates?!
  7. 2005 999R stalling - there's a surprise... :)

    Superbikes
Both times my 900SS did this, it was remedied by a set of new spark plugs. They were far over due. Was a simple fix and may not help your bike, but if they haven't been done in a while, it's worth a try!
  8. 916 number plate graphic vector file

    Superbikes
That looks really nice. I'd like to see how it looks on the bike :)
  9. 996 fuel squirting around in tank

    Superbikes
Great, thanks for the info guys, I can rest easy.
  10. 996 fuel squirting around in tank

    Superbikes
The bike seems to run fine, I'm not having any problems with the actual running of the bike, but I have noticed that when the bike primes the fuel pump after I turn the ignition on that a little bit of fuel squirts in the fuel tank. It's not a great deal of fuel so I'm wondering if this is a...
  11. 996 following ruts

    Superbikes
To answer your questions I am running Michelin Pilots front and rear at 34 psi. All four lines are showing on the front forks. Rear ride height I'm not sure of - I haven't gotten to setting this up. I weigh about 100kg and have about 35 mm of rider sag on the rear spring which I'll get to 30...
  12. 996 following ruts

    Superbikes
I've noticed that my newly aquired 996 follows the wheel tracks or ruts in the road. I've not noticed this on other road bikes running the same tyres and I've made sure that my tyre pressures are correct and tyres have plenty of tread. What could cause this behavior?
  13. New 996 owner

    Superbikes
Hi all, Just purchased a 996 the other day. I'm enjoying riding it, but am finding it has a little knocking sound coming from what I presume is the engine at 100 km/h in fourth gear at just below 4,000 rpm. It happens when I accelerate very lightly from just below 4,000 rpm. Could it be...
  14. Where to buy parts online?

    Ducati Motorcycle Chat
Thanks, but my bike is the '99 SS.
  15. Where to buy parts online?

    Ducati Motorcycle Chat
Hi, I've grown accustomed to buying parts online. Can anybody direct me to a online Ducati store which has access to an online parts fiche? There are a few parts I'm chasing for my 900SS. Thanks all.
  16. OEM exhaust cored sound vs Alternatives

    Supersport
Staintunes have, by far, the best sound. Very deep and full. Possibly not as 'loud' as others, but a full sound. I've heard other SS bikes with different pipes, and while some may be loud, they don't have the deep bark that the Staintunes have.
  17. First quick release dzus SS/DS kit order ready, need more buyers.

    Supersport
I got in contact with Kurvey Girl about a month ago and I was informed they are going ahead with the kit, it's just taking longer than expected. Best to contact Julie at [email protected] Hopefully it's not too far off.
  18. Time to replace the chain...

    Supersport
So, I'm the only person who has used, or even heard of Regina chains?
  19. Time to replace the chain...

    Supersport
I forgot to mention, that the DID and RK chains that I had poor longevity with were non-oring chains. So that could be a factor as to why they didn't last long. I'd had a bad run with o-ring chains seizing up on second hand bikes that I've bought and thought I'd just use a regular non-oring...
  20. Repairing a rusty or leaking SS tank

    Supersport
My bike has started to seep petrol out slowly. I'm wondering where to buy this POR15 stuff, or an equivalent product in Australia?
