  3. for SSS. Quick change rear sprocket carrier

    Tech Forum
I was just about to ask this same question. I was given a JT carrier and picked up a JT sprocket last summer. After a very short season the sprocket looks like shit, I'll admit to not caring for it like I usually do, and I'll blame it on the horrible cold wet weather. So I picked up a "supper...

    Welcome and Introduction
Welcome to the site and the life style that is Ducati. I own two 800SS Ducati's, one a 06 and the other is a 07. Actually the 07 doesn't have a lot left that's original. Step #09 final machining. After the anodizing I put the part back up in the CNC machining centre and cut a few windows in the back to remove more weight, and chamfered (cut 45 degree angles) on all sharp edges. I left this till after anodizing to give a little contrast to the part.

Step #08 Anodize part. I wanted to add some colour to the part so I did some reading and built a little home made Titanium anodizing machine. I still need to play with this a bit, as I'm not getting the colours I was hoping to get.

Step #07 finish outside. Once the inside profile was completed the outside finished machined. Then I set the part up in a CNC milling machine with a 4th axis, and got a little fancy by machining 48 helical sides on the part, and a series of holes to help remove some of the weight.

  13. Custom SS Machining Projects

    Supersport
Step #05 drill a lot of holes. This was one of the most time consuming processes, Titanium being extremely hard and abrasive this process took about 40 hours and a lot of drill bits. I started by spot drilling (making a small dimple) then drilling the holes, and finally reaming them to there...
