The pins are there to keep the ring gap centered on a port bridge, otherwise the ring end may catch on the port edge. Moving rings help keep the ring-grooves clean and clean pistons are happy pistons.

The most important thing is that the gaps are not lined up... As long as the gaps are staggered you should be fine. Clocking is "Good Practice" for making sure your rings don't line up but the exact ° is not important. The rings will roatate while the motor is running. Gray

Those are two very differnt designs, thus would require differnt jet sizes. You jet for the carbs you have. Jet sizing between Mikuni and Keihin is also not consistent. Have you guys tried ajusting the float level? Gray
