I saw a thread a while ago by a fellow who made his own set from oven wiring and it cost him pennies.
There's also a guy in England that does a kit. Look on the English site and you'll be able to get a price comparison.
The rear brake likely needs bleeding, they are notoriously poor. Has the bike been dropped and lever bent inwards?
Some people reduce the length of the centre stand by 50mm to get the part that fouls your foot out the way.
You could always replace the internal foam with memory foam yourself and reduce the height of the seat at the same time. That's what I'd do, if the seat was uncomfortable. I find mine is fine and have done 12 hour days on my bike.
