  1. Oil temp for a 1994ss?

    Supersport
Hi, I got in the mail today, a oil temp gauge that threads into the oil fill port. I rode the bike hard today and got the temp up to 80deg C, or about 190deg F. What is an average temp that you guys are seeing? My bike is heavily modified, and I re-located the oil cooler up under the head...
  2. Making a Sportmono--Oil path query

    Supersport
Hi, I think I'm understanding you correctly, but I think you have the oil flow direction backwards in the cylinder. The oil flows from a port below the cylinder base, up threw the cylinder and cylinder head and into the external line to drain back into the side case. I think you could cap off...
  3. Revs slow to drop - Carby

    Supersport
Hi, Throttle hang can be caused by idle speed, set it at 1200 rpms or below. I have been having the same problem with it hard starting and my engine was too rich with the jet size I'm running. So you might want to go the other way and go lean and try it again. Hope it helps. Bill

  5. '96 600ss engine teardown woes

    Supersport
Hi, I re-built my 900 and was able to get parts from Ducati Milwaukee. They might be able to help you with finding parts for your 600. The heavy marking on your piston, looks more like detonation, instead of a foreign part in the cylinder. Good luck with your project. Bill
  6. Who'd buy a brand new alloy tank??

    Supersport
Hi, I would be interested in a tank as well, I have a carbed 94 ss. Cool find, Bill
  7. Frame bracing, is it needed?

    Supersport
Hi, Thanks for all of the responses. Bill
  8. Frame bracing, is it needed?

    Supersport
Hi, Sounds good, these were the answers I was looking for. I thought the design was great until I heard some guys talk about how they wanted to stiffen the frame. They couldn't tell me why, so I figured I would ask a bigger group. I haven't rode my bike on a track yet, but I ride the heck out...
  9. Frame bracing, is it needed?

    Supersport
Hi, As the first big snow fall of the year is here in Wisconsin, I have been looking at my Ducati to decide on my next group of modifications. This thread is my bike. http://www.ducati.ms/forums/57-supersport/112107-1994-900ss-engine-work-completed.html I have been trying to research if extra...
  10. Was thinking at work today...

    Supersport
Hi, The only problem I see with running 2 stroke oil in the gas tank is, the fuel and oil are lighter than the water. So the water will still seperate out and settle on the bottom of the tank. I don't think it will hurt to try it, I'm just not sure it will work as well as you hope. Sorry but I...

Hi, I'm trying to decide what to do this winter, performance or apperance? It's time to re-paint the red on the bike or I was thinking of making fin valve covers similar to the 900 bevel drive covers, adding a steering dampener, and making a mechanical fuel injection. Hmm.. Happy New Years, Bill
  12. Cylinder Head paint flaking (internal)

    Supersport
Hi, On my engine 1994 900ss, it wasn't painted on the inside. My guess would be, I would clean out what you can, block off the return oil port and blow/suck out the loose paint. I don't think I would be to worried about it, it is right on top of the cylinder where the temp is the highest. If...
  13. Piston ring help......

    Supersport
Hi, When I was doing my engine, I used three bond sealent. Ducati Milwaukee told me, they could no longer get gaskets and after market pistons would be cheaper than buying piston rings. I used Wisco High compression pistons with great luck. Good luck with your project. Bill

Hi, On the build that I did, I ran the stock Kukosans ignition boxes. By altering the pick up on the fly wheel you can change the timing as talked about by Armen. If you can find adjustable cam wheels, you might find it easier to tune instead of the step keys. I'm glad it is working out for...
