I agree that café/custom bikes that perform worse than the base bike are not my cup of tea but you can have vastly improved performance (especially with weight loss) and plenty of style to go with...

Yep lots of commuting on the GT so I guess it is brake applications per mile not actual distance covered that counts.If they are only 4mm to start with I guess that wear is acceptable.

Also when I look at the mounting points on the back of muffler it appears that they are chrome over stainless steel...

Dont remove the insulation from your fairings 1000ss!

My 03 1000 ss had the sound deadening falling apart in the fairings so I removed it thinking what can it do anyway it is just a bit of thin foam.
My bike now has considerably more mechanical clatter...
