DaveK Deer are suicidal around these parts - I'm guessing I'll get taken out by one eventually and just hope I can manage it as well as you did. Glad to hear only the bike was damaged!

MTScott2 With insurance up here I would get $20,000.oo max pay out.
Just the way it works up here, and was What I Agreed to.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take too much damage to get to that amount, wit Ducati Prices for replacement parts.

Do you want to ride the Damaged goods bike knowing that it was heavily damaged?

Every year we get our options changed, meaning that there are different new models to choose from and different prices for used bikes that were trades ,

Tough choices , I see the newest Multi and can see the shiny more sculpted improvements , very pretty...
BUT I have a thang for old reliable used to how it runs 2011.

Maybe it is time to start out fresh ?

Insurance is about their profits and them spending as little manpower time ,an what they would get in return for your wreck after they paid out to you their "Loss".

Speedy pay outs are getting done up here, (that is an improvement) for auto (State Farm)
And with INTACT insuring my bike I have no experience with them, paying out , Still very fearful of the unknown.

You Paid up front and now it is there turn to do their end of the bargain.
I would walk away from having it repaired if it was heavily damaged and go with a new Bike,

Think of the deprecation factor with your "OLD USED" bike and the still the same or even more cost of labor (An older bikes replacement parts don't go down every year )

You insured a (say) $25,000.oo bike as new and now it is worth (say) $15,000.oo for the same premium you pay.
Will they replace yours with the same ?
I believe Insurance wants to pay out and be done with your case with as little expense (manpower $$ spent) on their part.

Insurance is based on your location so much difference in different areas,

I hope you make out on the good end you paid for that with your premiums...

Do you plan on keeping the Multi for years and years? Interested in doing trackdays on it, maybe putting TKCs on it and doing some dual sporty stuff with it? How will your insurance company handle it / charge you for coverage on a salvage title bike (even if they salvage it / sell it back to you)? Is there a limit to coverage if salvaged, will the rates go up? What does salvage title do to your warranty coverage?

My .02 - If you still love it and plan to keep it for many years/miles, a salvage buyout may be the way to go, esp. since it'll be a lot less emotional now if you drop it in the dirt / toss it down the track on frame sliders The insurance coverage & premiums / warranty coverage would be the biggest questions on my mind for a salvage title moto.
If you ever plan on selling it down the road, the sell price for a salvage title will greatly decrease resale, and maybe not be worth it.

Another option would be do a salvage buyout and part the bike out here on the forums, depending on what parts aren't damaged from the deer incident? A nice set of wheels, the engine, different colored plastics, etc, might be of interest to some here / on eBay and more than cover the salvage buyout price? Or, might not be worth it if you don't want to deal w/ dismantling the moto and running ads / listing prices / shipping parts / etc.

2013 Multi: What cost to choose salvage value instead of repair expense ?

Ravill Scary stuff.

I had a wolf run out into the road while on a "spirited" drive with the Lambo's. It was huge too! I would've hated to hit it with my bumper!

Again, we're all glad you are ok and thanks for sharing, it helps keep us on our toes...eeerr foot pegs!

Coolant drip

Nickel sized drip of coolant on the floor, dripped off the two vent hose ends that exit out of the left side bash plate. Took a closer look, probably going to need a new oil cooler and new radiator in add'n to the plastic stuff. Radiator got pushed back enough such that the cowls for the two electric cooling fans are jammed up against backside of it.

But I did litter the roadway with plastic faring parts. Nothing leaking. Here's what I can see so far:

- Front fender completely sheared in half, back half and mudguard barely attached, all sensor cords and brake lines look okay
- Lower fork fairings: rightside completely torn off, left side broke in half near top
- Intake beak slightly displaced where it comes together, the center seam.
- Oil cooler loose in mounting, hoses okay
- Radiator some minor scuff with micro denting at top left, all hoses okay, radiator maybe off level slightly but looks okay otherwise
- Lower painted (boomerang shaped) radiator and wind fairing on left side torn clean off
- MAP sensor for horizontal cylinder broke off at nipple (hose off broken nipple in hose end)
- Tail tidy (OEM) that holds license plate and turn signals torn clean off just below tail light.
- Left side pillion's footpeg is loose and rattles around in housing, can't figure out why as the peg/pannier strut assembly looks unbent/undamaged.

She was small and she darted low, I hit her around her head/neck/shoulders frontal area causing her right flanks to come around and rake down the left side of bike. Hit my leg but no damage (wearing overpants w/ knee armor). Cannot figure out how she took off the tail section from tail light back, although I might have spun her enough that her ass hit it. Headlights and above untouched. She went under the beak, no apparent evidence of a strike to the front tip of the beak.

After a few minutes laying stunned on the ground by a mailbox post she got up and hauled ass.

My initial feeling was of course goddammit my bike. But I consider myself lucky in the sense that I stayed up and was able to pull over and park normally.
Glad you're ok. I just saw you location, Deer central up there.

My dad and I tagged a deer at the east end of Effingham IL, 3 years ago headed to Motogp and Indy, ruined our day, No refund on the tickets either.

Damascus There's a ball bearing and a spring inside the passenger foot peg assembly. I'm guessing one or both went flying.

Bonaventure Main concern is to make sure that the forks are okay which I will have them professionally inspected.... no visible leaks.

Will go with OEM plastic, not looking to do carbon upgrades at this point. Really like the original look of the bike.

Still scratching my head why the left rear pillion foot peg is loose, I guess she whacked it too and screwed up something in the hinge
